Summer was close to average in temperatures according to reports by local people. August was slightly warmer than usual.

Breeding conditions:

Several pairs of birds of prey, presumably Rough-legged Buzzards, were recorded, as well as numerous Sandhill Cranes geese and Arctic Hares. Solitary tracks of wolves and Polar Bears were recorded. Grouse were relatively rare.
 

Rodent dynamics:

Solitary lemmings were recorded in late August - early September, while they were reported abundant in 2004 by local fishemen and reindeer herders. Arctic Ground-Squirrels were numerous both in 2004 and 2005.
